The Thursday Cottage Story

AT THE BEGINNING

Thursday Cottage was started in 1963 in a cottage of the same name outside Spaxton, Somerset. For many years, the business was owned and run by Hugh and Pam Corbin from Lyme Regis, until they sold it to us in 2002.

RECENT HISTORY

The production unit is now based at Trewlands Farm in Tiptree in the Essex countryside where we still make a variety of handmade jams, marmalades and curds. The ingredients, the open pan cooking and the distinctive taste and character of Thursday Cottage products has changed little from the time when the company was based in the West Country, over fifty years ago.

ONLY THE BEST

We take great care in choosing the best ingredients and use a variety of traditional and unusual fruits such as greengages (Greengage Jam), pink grapefruits (Pink Grapefruit Marmalade) and rhubarb (Rhubarb & Ginger Jam). All of our products are made in small batches and we fill the jars by hand when we can because you get more whole fruit in the product this way, which means a more hearty and fruity taste. The hard work and effort consistently put in by our small team here has been reflected in recent years by the awards that Thursday Cottage products have received in the Great Taste Awards.

BECAUSE WE CARE

The small team at Trewlands Farm have been involved in making fine preserves and working with quality fruit for many years. Chris Newenham has an extensive knowledge of fruit, Donna Smith is well known to many stockists and customers as she has been responsible for sales since the business arrived in Essex in 2002, Mark Smith brings over thirty years of jam making experience to the company. Leah Riley & Pele Heydon together look after our Thursday Cottage branded sales. Everyone at Thursday Cottage has a key part to play in the success of products and the business whether in new development, production, quality control, sales or support.

ORDERING

How do I order online?

Ordering online with Thursday Cottage is quick and easy. Simply visit our website and browse through our range of conserves, marmalades, fine foods, and gifts. Once you've found the items you'd like to order, add them to your shopping cart and proceed to checkout. You will be prompted to enter your delivery and payment details, and once your order is confirmed, we will take care of the rest. Can I add a gift message to my order?

Regrettably, we are currently unable to facilitate gift messages. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Our products are of the highest quality and make excellent gifts on their own. Thank you for your understanding.

To offer fast deliveries, we pick and pack orders almost immediately, so it's unlikely that you will be able to cancel. However, in exceptional circumstances please contact our Home Deliveries department by phone on 01621 815407. Monday- Friday or by email at homedeliveries@tiptree.com. Please note that our Home Deliveries department operates between 9am-5pm.

Can I add or remove an item to the order I recently submitted?

Can I use more than one discount code on my order?

We are not able to accept multiple discount codes on a single order. Each order can only have one discount code applied, which is limited to one use per customer. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for your understanding.

What days do you deliver?

We deliver six days a week, from Monday to Saturday, to ensure that your orders are received as quickly and efficiently as possible. This includes both our standard and express delivery options. We understand that prompt delivery is important to our customers, and we strive to meet this need.

Can I track my order?

You can track your order using the courier's portal once it has been dispatched. We will provide you with the necessary tracking information via email once your order has been processed. Simply enter the tracking information into the courier's portal to check the status of your delivery. This allows you to stay up to date on the progress of your order and plan accordingly.

I haven’t received my order?

If you placed an order with us more than a week ago and have not yet received it, please contact us via email at homedeliveries@tiptree.com. We take pride in ensuring that your orders are delivered as promptly as possible, and we apologise for any delay that you may have experienced. Our customer service team will be happy to assist you with tracking down your order and resolving any issues that you may have encountered.

What happens if no one is at home when delivery is made?

We work with trusted courier partners to ensure that your orders are delivered safely and efficiently. Each courier has their own specific policies regarding delivery and shipping, and we want to ensure that our customers are aware of these policies. Yes, you will receive an order confirmation and dispatch notification once your order has been placed and shipped. These notifications are automatically generated and sent to the email address provided at the time of purchase. This allows you to stay up-to-date on the status of your order and track the progress of its delivery.

Do any of your products contain gluten?

Although most Tiptree products do not contain Gluten there are some products
on our website which do, such as Christmas Puddings. Please refer to product
ingredients on the individual product pages for full ingredient listings.

Do any of your products contain nuts?

Our Tiptree site is a nut-free factory, therefore the ‘Tiptree’ and ‘Thursday Cottage’ products do not contain nuts as these products are all
made at the Tiptree Jam Factory site. Please refer to product ingredients on the individual product pages for full ingredient listings.

Are your products sold overseas?

Yes, our Thursday Cottage products are exported to some countries. For
information on overseas suppliers please contact us.

I am trying to find your products locally, can you help?

Of course, please contact the Sales Office on jams@thursday-cottage.com with your
postcode and the product(s) you are looking for. We will then contact you with
any nearby stockists we have located.

How are your jars packaged?

We use a series of bespoke cardboard boxes with cardboard dividers and kraft paper that keep our products safe.

Availability

Unless specified all of our products shown online are available to order any time. We never substitute products that are unavailable without prior consent.

How will I be refunded?

All refunds are sent to you via the original payment method used when placing the order.

How Long will I have to consume your products

Our products typically have a few years best before date, however we will ensure the minimum shelf life that you receive is 3 months.
